Work Management Framework in PeopleSoft FSCM PUM 53

The Work Management Framework (WMF), introduced in PeopleSoft FSCM Update Image 53, is an optional yet powerful feature designed to enhance exception handling and transaction oversight within PeopleSoft Work Center’s. Built on Enterprise Components, WMF offers a structured approach to managing transactions that require follow-up or encounter errors or warnings. Whether a transaction needs to be monitored, manually resolved, or reassigned, WMF equips users with the tools to do so effectively from a centralized interface.

With WMF enabled, Work Center’s gain enhanced functionality, including customizable views, additional action options, and robust tracking features. Users can sort and categorize transactions based on their status, assign them to team members, add comments, and send notifications — all while maintaining a clear history of actions taken. These capabilities improve collaboration, accountability, and auditability, allowing organizations to streamline workflows, reduce delays, and ensure business processes move forward smoothly.

What is the Work Management Framework?

The Work Management Framework allows users to view and manage transaction errors or warnings that appear in the My Work section of a Work Center.

1. Some transactions drop off the list naturally as the business process progresses.

2. Others may require manual tasks outside of the system, such as:

  • Sending email notifications,
  • Making phone calls, or
  • Performing additional follow-up actions.

Workcenter Enhancements with WMF

1. When Work Management is enabled for a transaction:

  • A View drop-down box appears above the grid.
  • Additional Action Options are displayed on the left side of the grid.

2. These enhancements allow users to:

  • Change the grid view based on Work Management Status.
  • Take actions that update the transaction’s status and move it into a different view.
  • Continue using standard action options (existing before WMF) along with new, WMF-specific actions.

Work Management Views

After enabling Work Management, all transactions initially appear in Active View. From there, users can manage and categorize transactions through different views:

1. Active View

  • Displays all current transactions.
  • Transactions not considered exceptions can be inactivated.
  • Inactivating a transaction removes it from Active View (though the left navigation count remains unchanged).

2. Inactive View

  • Shows transactions that have been manually inactivated.

Notifications & Action Tracking

  • Use the Action Menu to notify managers, add comments, or document actions taken.
  • For example, selecting Notify Manager prompts the system to send an email to the designated manager while allowing you to log a comment for future reference.
  • This ensures accountability and transparency in handling transaction exceptions.
