Connections – A New User Experience for Directory

Oracle provided a new feature of Connections, a new directory user experience with release of 21A enhance your workers user experience towards the search and connect with people using the new oracle search engine. You can view your coworkers public profile information like skills and interests, work location, time zone, department and organization chart to understand your coworkers’ roles with latest design components and animations.

Overview

Connection New Directory uses oracle’s search to quickly and easily search for people’s work in your organization, allow you to view their public profile information and other details to create relationships quickly and affiance by helping your colleagues and better collaborate.

Connection utilizes oracle search, a powerful new search engine in HCM cloud that delivers a faster search across large volumes of data and returns highly relevant results for an enhanced search experience, and the primary purpose is to search for people.

When you search an employee name that returned the best matches at the top of the search results like the closely matched profiles. The primary search is done on employee name while the other fields are secondary, you can select the plus sign to show all the employees with close match.

There are certain filters is available to select the employee which makes our job more convenient to search the employee. You need to select the filter icon to enable filter option, which are available like country, city, title, location, job, department and position.

By selecting the employee from search results, the profile opens using visually engaging animation, like an unfolding multi-panel brochure.

How to Enable Connections New Directory User Experience

  • To enable this feature, you need to log a Service Request (SR), and need to apply for Connections under “Controlled Availability” feature program. As the features are not generally available for all customers at this time.
  • Once Oracle approved you will receive a document with instructions on how to configure the application to use oracle search and connections.
