Dear All,
This year’s UKOUG Apps17 was an engaging and insightful event, particularly for the PeopleSoft community. With 14 PeopleSoft-related sessions, the conference offered a strategic overview, practical demonstrations, and interactive Q&A sessions with Oracle experts.
As the largest independent gathering of Applications professionals in the UK, UKOUG Apps17 delivered a well-curated agenda featuring customer case studies, roadmap discussions, and expert panels. Key themes included the User Interface, Selective Adoption, and PeopleSoft on Oracle Cloud.
Kick-off and Strategy
The PeopleSoft stream began on 6th December, led by Graham Smith.
Following this, David Bain presented “PeopleSoft Strategy – Application & Tools”, sharing valuable insights into the PeopleSoft journey and future.
Key takeaways on the future of PeopleSoft included:
- Intuitive Mobile User Experience
- Actionable Embedded Links
- Global Search, Alerts & Notifications
- Flexible, Personalizable (Fluid) UI
- Selective Adoption of New Features (No more major upgrades!)
- Seamless Deployment on Oracle Cloud
We at Kovaion were thrilled to see our customers recognized in Oracle’s Selective Adoption showcase.

Customer Stories and Practical Insights
A highlight session was “Why PeopleSoft Test Framework is Part of the Hays Selective Adoption Strategy” – a success story in combining PTF with agile delivery.
Hays emphasized the importance of structured testing using their Model Office, which enables collaboration between functional teams and SMEs to validate PeopleSoft features in a real-world-like setup.
This was followed by Ken de Landro’s session, “PeopleSoft Test Framework – A Practical Demonstration”, offering insights into test automation across AP, AR, Billing, and Paybill modules at Hays.
PeopleTools and Cloud Manager
David Bain returned to walk through PeopleTools innovations:
- PeopleSoft Journey enhancements
- Fluid UI (including Classic Plus)
- Selective Adoption best practices
- PeopleSoft Cloud Manager
He even illustrated a real-life example of using Fluid UI to pay his daughter’s university fees – showing how practical and user-friendly the system has become.
Innovation and Community Engagement
The PeopleSoft Innovation forum was a valuable platform for customers to share ideas and collaborate on improvements. We also recommend engaging with the Quest International User Group for continued learning and networking.
In a captivating session, Graham Smith showcased the PeopleSoft Cloud Manager, drawing fun parallels with drilling in his garden and bakeries generating electricity – ultimately demonstrating how to spin up a PeopleSoft instance in under 30 minutes.
Kovaion’s Experience Shared
I had the pleasure of presenting our session, “Enhance User Experience by Adopting the Latest UI Features”, where I covered:
- The significance of User Experience and how to measure its ROI
- Benefits realized by our customers
- Why a leading automobile organization adopted Fluid UI and Mobile
- A hands-on demonstration of Fluid UI, Navigation Collection, Related Content & Actions
Closing Remarks
David Bain concluded the event with updates on Page Composer (Fluid Approvals), Elastic Search, and PeopleSoft Cloud Manager v5. Oracle’s commitment to PeopleSoft is stronger than ever.
The event closed with an inspiring keynote by @krissakabusi – encouraging everyone to DREAM BIG.
I look forward to reviewing other sessions once the documents are available on the UKOUG portal and eagerly anticipate the UKOUG PeopleSoft Roadshow 2018 and #ukoug_apps18.
Thank you all for being a part of this enriching experience.
