Overview
- This blog discusses the processes and steps to Flexible Reporting in Redwood Dashboards.
- Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence (OTBI) content can now be configured as a data source for Redwood Analytics in specific Fusion pages.
- It allows business users to add charts, tables, and metrics from OTBI into dashboards, enabling real-time, contextual analytics.
- This feature improves user experience by reducing navigation to separate BI tools and providing seamless access to insights within the Redwood UX.
- It supports multiple visualization types like Bar, Line, Pie, Donut, Funnel, Metric Cards, and Tabular reports.
- This feature is available across Redwood dashboards in HCM, Financials, Procurement, and other modules, wherever visualizations are supported.
Summary
In brief, the procedure for creating Redwood Analytics is as follows:
- Create OTBI reports that provide the necessary data to present to users.
- Create a Visualization Configuration for each Redwood Analytic that is required.
- Use the Edit Page Layout feature to drag and drop new Redwood Analytic KPIs and Visualizations onto your dashboards.
Steps to Enable Oracle Redwood Flexible Reporting for Real-Time Analytics
- Access the page by appending /fscmUI/redwood/cx-analytics/application/container/dvconfig after the “.com” in the pod URL. Use the Add button to include new KPIs and visualizations.

- Based on the OTBI report data, the page auto-selects a visualization type. The Details section is filled in, and the Redwood Analytic appears on the right. The fields in the Details section differ depending on the visualization type, such as pie charts or bar charts.

- As the final step, change the Redwood Analytics visualization status to Active. To make changes in the future, the status must be inactivated, the visualization saved, and then set back to Draft.
Access Requirements
The following privileges are required:
1. Visualization Configurator:
- To view the dashboard: ZCA_VIEW_DATA_VISUALIZATION_CONFIGURATION_PRIV
- To configure the dashboard: ZCA_MANAGE_DATA_VISUALIZATION_CONFIGURATION_PRIV
2. Each dashboard controls Edit Page Layout through a specific privilege, which is documented in the What’s New entry for that dashboard. For instance, the (HCM) Team Activity Center requires PER_EDIT_TEAM_ACTIVITY_CENTER_LAYOUT privilege to allow layout edits.
Tips and considerations
This may not be a comprehensive list of tips and considerations, but it covers the most common ones:
- Line charts cannot process numeric values on the X-axis. These values must be CAST to CHAR in OTBI for proper functionality. This limitation may also affect other chart types. In some cases, you may need to clear the Category field in the Visualization Configuration tool.
- The Tabular Chart type in the visualization tool may display the error: ‘Select values for all the required fields to generate the visualization.’ Currently, there is no known solution for this issue.
- The X-Axis LOV in the configuration tool displays only the first eight columns from the OTBI report. If additional columns are needed, you should reorder the columns in the OTBI report.
- Some OTBI features are not supported by the visualization tool. The following features are currently unsupported (this list is not exhaustive): View Selector, Column Selector, Drills, Prompts
Upcoming Features
- Expanded Page Support Across Modules: Oracle plans to extend support for flexible OTBI visualizations to more Redwood pages, beyond the current releases where it’s available. Notifications will be provided in future What’s New documents when new pages become supported.
- Enhanced Roadmap for Supply Chain Modules: Releases 25D and 26A are expected to include enhancements for the Supply and Demand Planning dashboards. Currently, Redwood support in these areas is limited, but full visual and analytic capabilities are anticipated in later releases like 26D.
- General Future Enhancements Across Modules: While no specific public roadmap exists for future flexible reporting features, Oracle is steadily enhancing Redwood UX across HCM, SCM, Finance, ERP, and more.
The 25C release introduced Flexible Reporting, and Oracle continues to enhance and broaden Redwood capabilities in future updates.
