Oracle is on a mission to modernize its cloud applications with the Redwood design system a bold, user-centered UI strategy that enhances both the look and feel and the functionality of the Oracle Cloud suite. One area that benefits greatly from this transformation is the HCM Data Loader (HDL), a critical tool for HR teams and system administrators who manage high-volume employee data operations.
With the latest update, Oracle introduces the Redwood Experience to the HDL Business Object Access feature, giving it a fresh interface powered by Oracle Visual Builder Studio (VB Studio). This enhancement not only delivers a visually modern user interface but also significantly improves usability, navigation speed, and role management efficiency.
If you’ve struggled with manually assigning business object access or want a more streamlined way to manage HDL permissions, the Redwood UI is a game changer. In this blog, we’ll guide you through what’s new, how to navigate the upgraded interface, how to enable it, and why your organization should take advantage of this next-gen experience.

What is the Redwood Experience for HDL?
The Redwood UI is Oracle’s next-generation design system offering cleaner, faster, and more intuitive interfaces. The HDL Business Object Access feature now adopts Redwood styling using Oracle Visual Builder Studio (VB Studio), improving performance and usability.

Business Benefits of the Redwood Experience for HCM Data Loader Access
Implementing the Redwood Experience for HCM Data Loader (HDL) Access isn’t just about improving the look and feel—it delivers tangible business value across usability, performance, governance, and scalability. Here are the key benefits your organization can gain:
- Faster and More Intuitive Role-Based Access Management: The new Redwood UI dramatically simplifies how administrators view, assign, and manage HDL Business Object access. With streamlined navigation, visual role indicators, and clear assignment modes, HR and IT teams spend less time managing permissions and more time on strategic tasks.
- Improved Data Governance and Security: With clearer visibility into which roles have access to which business objects, organizations gain stronger governance over sensitive employee data. The option to assign all objects—including security data—ensures granular control while preventing unauthorized access.
- Enhanced Admin Productivity and Efficiency: Redesigned workflows reduce manual effort by enabling administrators to assign multiple objects or product areas in bulk. Filtering, searching, and assignment modes help teams manage even large-scale configurations more efficiently.
- Reduced Risk of Errors and Misconfigurations: A cleaner UI with distinct assignment options minimizes the chances of configuration errors. This means fewer data load issues and a more stable HR system overall—especially critical during high-volume operations like mergers, acquisitions, or system rollouts.
- Scalability for Complex Organizational Structures: Whether you’re managing a small company or a global enterprise, the Redwood interface supports complex role assignments and object access configurations with ease. It’s ideal for matrixed organizations needing flexibility and scalability in permission handling.
- Faster Onboarding and Training: The modern, intuitive design accelerates learning curves for new administrators. Instead of navigating outdated, complex screens, users can quickly understand how to manage access—reducing the time and cost of onboarding new HR or IT staff.
- Seamless Integration with Oracle’s Future-Ready Design System: Adopting Redwood aligns your system with Oracle’s long-term vision for cloud usability. As more modules transition to Redwood, enabling this feature ensures consistency and prepares your organization for a fully unified and modern Oracle Cloud experience.
- Supports Agile Business and Compliance Needs: When business requirements change—like introducing new business units, launching global HR processes, or responding to audits—administrators can quickly adjust access using the Redwood interface. This flexibility is critical for maintaining compliance and business agility.
